HVAC Business Valuation Calculator
Explore an earnings-multiple scenario with your own earnings, eligible add-backs, debt, cash and assumed multiple.
How this HVAC business valuation scenario works
Scenario value before debt and cash = modeled seller discretionary earnings × your assumed multiple. The tool adds the earnings and add-back inputs, then subtracts entered debt and adds cash. It does not determine a market multiple or appraise your business.

Your estimate
This planning scenario is not a valuation, financing offer, payroll determination, tax calculation, or guarantee. Confirm assumptions with the appropriate qualified professional.

Understand the earnings inputs
The calculator models seller discretionary earnings by adding the entered owner benefit before add-backs, owner compensation, interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. Review the starting earnings figure and each add-back with your accountant. Do not add an expense again if your starting figure already includes that adjustment.
Worked earnings-multiple example
- Annual revenue: $1,000,000.
- Owner benefit before add-backs: $120,000.
- Owner compensation add-back: $80,000.
- Interest and tax add-backs: $10,000 each.
- Depreciation and amortization add-back: $5,000.
- Assumed earnings multiple: 3.
- Entered debt: $50,000; cash included: $10,000.
The modeled earnings total is $225,000. At the illustrative 3× multiple, scenario value before debt and cash is $675,000. Subtracting $50,000 debt and adding $10,000 cash produces $635,000. The pre-adjustment value is 67.5% of the entered annual revenue. The assumed multiple is an example input, not an HVAC market benchmark.
Compare assumptions without treating them as an offer
With the same $225,000 modeled earnings, an assumed 2× multiple produces $450,000 before debt and cash; 4× produces $900,000. That spread demonstrates sensitivity to an input, not evidence that your business would sell within that range.
What this scenario cannot establish
The tool does not assess customer concentration, contract quality, equipment condition, working capital, transferable licenses, owner dependence, transaction structure or comparable sales. Which add-backs, debts, cash and assets belong in an actual transaction depends on its terms. Have the financial records and adjustments reviewed before using them in a sale, financing or tax decision.
